As a solution-oriented therapist, my focus in working with clients, is to first listen to and understand their concerns and feelings. Secondly, I want to understand what it is that client's would like as a result of coming to therapy. Some are looking for support and validation of their beliefs and feelings. Others feel stuck in their life and want direction in how to resolve certain life problems and patterns. And still, others want to learn how to better manage a particular situation, stress, their health, or pain.
Since every person is different, my approach to therapy is to tailor the treatment to each individual, couple, or family's needs. I am very curious about what you have tried on your own to improve your situation and address your concerns. I want to know what has helped and what has not worked for you. I am interested in your strengths and abilities, and areas that you want to develop or improve on. I believe that we can sometimes learn how to better utilize our own strengths and resources to deal with our life concerns or challenges.
